2026 Star Party Schedule:
Saturday, September 12th - Fort Casey State Park - Drop by Fort Casey and learn about amateur astronomy, astrophotography and see the wonders of the cosmos through some of our telescopes and telescopes with cameras. Island County Astronomical Society members will be there to present various aspect of amateur astronomy and some pictures we have taken of galaxies, star cluster and nebula formations in our universe. The presentation will begin at 8 pm. The presentation will take place even if its cloudy. In the event of rain (or the likelihood of rain) we will be forced cancel the event. We will update this website in the event of cancellation as early as we are able to determine.
Friday, September 18th -International Observe the Moon Night - Island County Astronomical Society in conjunction with the Concrete Library will host the International Observe the Moon Night event at the Concrete Elementary School. The start time for this event is 6 pm and run until 8:30 pm.
There will be a presentation at 6 pm in the school gym and viewing of the moon will begin at 6:30 pm.
Please note the time has moved up to start at 6:00 pm.
Saturday, September 19th -International Observe the Moon Night - Island County Astronomical Society in conjunction with the Anacortes Library once again will host the International Observe the Moon Night at Seafarer's park on the waterfront in Anacortes. The event will begin at 6:30 pm and run until 8:30 pm on the 19th.
International Observe the Moon Night is a time to come together with fellow Moon enthusiasts and curious people worldwide. Everyone on Earth is invited to learn about lunar science and exploration, take part in celestial observations, and honor cultural and personal connections to the Moon. Island County Astronomical Society members will have various telescopes there to allow you an up-close view of the moon and some of its more prominent features.
