Star Party
2024 Star Party Schedule:
Unfortunately, due to the weather, we have cancelled the Star Party for Saturday, August 24th, at Camano Island State Park. We still have one more state park star party planned; Ft. Casey State Park on September 7th plus International Observe the Moon Night with the Anacortes Library on September 14th. Hope to see you at one of these events.
We had a great start to our Summer State Park Star Parties at Deception Pass State Park with a large group attending both the presentation and the observing session on West Beach.
Saturday, September 7th, 8:30 pm - Ft Casey State Park
Saturday, September 14th - International Observe the Moon Night in conjunction with the Anacortes Library 7pm to 8:30pm - at Seafarer's park in Anacortes. See the promo video below!
In the event of rain or clouds, we will convene at the Anacortes Library for a presentation and discussion about the moon.
October 2024, Ft. Nugent Park, Oak Harbor - TBD
As always, Star Parties and dependent on clear skies. Even partly cloudy skies may cause us to cancel these events. We will always update this webpage as early in the day as we are able to determine when an event is cancelled. We also encourage you to use the weather chart below as a gauge to the likelihood an event will be cancelled or not.
The Clear Sky Chart below predicts the weather in Oak Harbor for the next 96 hours. Check back to this page often for updates. In the Clear Sky Chart, the darker the blue in the Cloud Cover row just after sunset, the better the chances of having fair conditions for a Star Party. Just remember, the chart is in military or 24 hour clock (18 is 6pm). We will add the forecast for the upcoming state park parties as they get closer to the date.
